What makes this genuinely empowering rather than alarming is that gum disease is largely preventable and highly treatable. Unlike many risk factors for chronic disease, this is one you can directly do something about. And the "treatment" for the oral side—keeping your gums healthy—has zero downside and plenty of independent benefits: keeping your natural teeth, chewing comfortably, avoiding pain and tooth loss, and fresher breath.
